1966 Chevrolet Corvette Survivor

This 1966 corvette could be a candidate for the Bloomington Survivor award, as this corvette reeks with originality.   This corvette is a 1966 matching numbers Trophy Blue convertible.  This corvette was manufactured on or about February 23, 1966.

The original exterior paint color of this corvette is Trophy Blue, which is close to a silver-blue.   The exterior paint is mostly original paint, probably 75% to 80%.   It is obvious that most of the paint on this car's exterior including the auxiliary hard top, is mostly the original paint.  There were only 1,463 corvettes made in 1966, with the exterior color of Trophy Blue.   The soft top is white in color and the soft top functions as it should.   The soft top does not have any rips or tears in the material.  The original chrome bumpers are in very nice condition, as are the original wheel covers.

The original color of the interior is dark blue.   It's interior is also mostly original, with maybe the front carpet being replaced sometime in this corvette's history.  The dash pads are the original dash pads and they look very nice.  The seat covers and door panels are also original.  The soft top frame and the soft top underside are also in very nice condition.  The dash gauges are all original, along with the radio, and they all function properly.   The glove box door and interior are also original and they are also in very nice condition.

The 427/390 hp engine runs very strong, and it starts immediately, with just a touch of the ignition key.  The motor is the original motor, as is the engine stamp.  The assembly stamp on the engine pad is T0215IL, which indicates February 15, 1966, and it also indicates that the engine is a 390 hp engine.   The vin number of this corvette is also stamped on the engine pad, as it should be.   The engine block number is 3839942, and the casting number is A 21 6, which is January 21, 1966.  The cast iron intake manifold is part number 3866948.  The carburetor is a correct Holley 4-barrel carburetor, and the part number is 3370A.  The exhaust manifolds are also the correct part numbers: 3880828 for the rh side, and 3880827  for the lh side.   The factory big block ignition shielding is also in place.  The Delco alternator is part number 1100693, 37A, which is correct, with a build date of  6 B 15, which is February 15, 1966.  The voltage regulator is also the correct part number 1119515, made by Delco, with a build date of 6B, February, 1966.  The big block radiator appears to be the original radiator.

The frame is very clean and it has no rust or frame rot.  It appears that there has never been any damage or repairs to the frame.  The front A-arms and the rear trailing arms are also in very nice original condition.  There are no leaks or extraneous noises from the exhaust system.  The brake lines and calibers have been recently serviced, and they are in fine working condition.  All factory lower dust shields are in place.  The Muncie 4-speed transmission shifts like only an original corvette transmission does.  The transmission also has the original transmission tag in place.  The rear end is the original rear end with the code of

FA 2 14 66, which means it has a build date of Feb 14, 1966.  The rear end ratio is 3.70.

Everything mechanical and electrical operates exactly as it should.  This includes the headlight and parking lights (both front and back), headlight motors, the horns, windshield wipers (both low speed and high speeds), clock, radio (both AM and FM), cigarette lighter, all interior gauges including the speedometer and tachometer, odometer and odometer reset, the high beam and turn indicators, the turn signals and hazard flasher, the heater and defroster, the vent pulls, windows and vent windows, door locks and glove box lock, seat adjustments, deck lid, soft top, the back-up lights, and the license and tail lights.  The tires are black walls, in excellent condition.

The original GM trim tag and original GM engine pad have been verified by several high level NCRS master judges, as being the original components.  This corvette was recently used (August, 2006) at the Corvette Homecoming Event, in Bowling Green, Kentucky as a prime example of an unrestored corvette.  This corvette was placed on a lift for all attendees of the class to view and evaluate, as a learning tool.  The teacher/master judge of this training seminar, was John Ballard, a high level NCRS judge.  His overall comment about this corvette was that it was a very nice and original corvette, and that it's frame and chassis is one of the nicest original frames, that he has ever seen.

This corvette is available for inspection at any time while the auction is active.   We reserve the right to end this auction at any time, as this corvette is also advertised locally.

1967 Chevrolet Corvette C2 Red/Red

How long has it been since you have seen a "Real Deal" Red/Red 1967 convertible corvette?  This corvette is a 1967 matching numbers, original  Red / Red convertible.  This corvette is one of the first 300 corvettes manufactured in 1967.  It was completed on the 2nd or 3rd day of production for the 1967 model year.  Several of its details are applicable to the very early production of 1967 corvettes.

The original exterior paint color of this corvette is Red.  The exterior paint is exceptionally fresh, less than 6 weeks old, and it is of concourse quality.  It is impecable.   It is a brand new lacquer paint job, and it appears flawless.  The solf top is white in color and it greatly accents the exterior red color.  The exterior chrome, including bumbers and body emblems are all in excellent condition.  The windshield wiper arms and blade holders are of the correct Trico manufacture.  The trim rings and center caps on each wheel are also in excellent condition.  The tires are period appropriate red-line tires, and their tread shows almost no wear.  A spare tire is also included, and it is also in excellent condition.

The original interior color of this corvette is also Red.  It's interior is recently redone, and it also appears as new.  The carpets are recently installed, and they have the correct seams and carpet cuts.  The dash pads are the original dash pads and look great.  The seat covers and door panels have also been recently redone, and they appear as perfecto mundo. The soft top frame and the soft top underside are also in exceptional condition.  The dash gauges have recently been gone through, along with the radio, and they all apear very fresh.  On the inside of the glove box door, you will notice an additional yellow sticker.  This is an original dealer sticker from the original selling dealer... Luby Chevrolet, in Denver, Colorado.... pretty neat!

The engine starts on a dime and it runs like a 350hp should.... strong and quick.   The engine block number is 3892657, and the casting number is H 18 6, which is August 18, 1966.   The assembly date stamp on the engine pad is V0826HT, which translates into August 26, 1966, and the HT means 350 hp engine.  The vin number of this corvette is also stamped on the engine pad, as it should be.  The aluminum intake is part number 3890490, and was naturally made by Winters.  The carburator is a correct Holley 4-barrel carb.  The exhaust manifolds are also the correct part numbers: 3747042 for the rh side, and 3846559  for the lh side.  The valve covers are the correct 7-finned alluminum cast valve covers.  The factory ignition shielding is in place, as is the Delco alternator.  The expansion tank is also the correct part number 3155416, made by Harrison.

The frame is very clean and it has no rust or frame rot.  It appears that there has never been any damage or repairs to the frame.  The front A-arms and the rear trailing arms are also in very nice condition.  There are no leaks or extranious noises from the exhaust system.  The brake lines and calibers have been recently serviced, and they are in tip top shape.  All factory dust shields are in place.

Everything mechanical and electrical operates exactly as it should.  This includes the headlight and parking lights (both front and back), headlight motors, the horns, windshield wipers (both low speed and high speeds), clock, radio (both AM and FM), cigarette lighter, all interior gauges including the speedometer and tachometer, odometer and odometer reset, the high beam and turn indicators, the turn signals and hazard flasher, the heater and defroster, the vent pulls, windows and vent windows, door locks and glovebox lock, seat adjustments and seat back locks, seat-belts, deck lid, soft top, the back-up lights, and the license and tail lights.  The tires are red-line in excellent condition.

The original GM trim tag and original GM protecto-plate are both the Real Deal.  These items have been authenticated by several high level NCRS master judges as original GM manufacture.

1965 Chevrolet Corvette 327/300

This corvette is an original Red/ Red-white convertible corvette, with a 327/300 motor.    It has the original drive train, which includes the original engine, with the original engine stamp.  The stamp on the engine pad is T1214HF,  which is  Dec. 14, 1964, with the matching vin # of 5105489 on the engine pad.  This corvette was assembled on Dec. 17, 1964.

The car runs very strong and everything mechanical on this car functions correctly, with the exception of one of the horns.  Everything else mechanical and electrical operates exactly as it should. This includes the headlight and parking lights, headlight motors, windshield wipers ( both low speed and high speed), clock, radio ( both AM and FM), all interior gauges, windows, door locks and glovebox lock, seat adjustments and seat back locks, seat-belts, deck lid, soft top, and all tail-lights.  The tires are red-line in excellent condition.

The original paint color of this corvette is Red, and the original color of the interior is also Red with white accents.  The exterior paint is exceptionally nice, and it is 13 years old.  I would rate the exterior paint 9.5 out of 10.  The solf top is white in color and it greatly accents the exterior red color.  It's interior is also recently redone, and it also appears nearly perfect.  A very unique feature of the trim tag of this corvette is that the original selling dealer did stamp the date of the sale on the trim tag ...  4  65... April  1965.  The frame on this corvette is very original with no frame rot or rust holes.

The odometer shows 13,198 miles.  I do not believe that this figure is correct, and I believe that the actual mileage is between 20,000 to 80,000 miles.  The previous owner owned this corvette from August of 1978 until 2 months ago.
